Maryann Conrad, 50, of Stamford, was charged Aug. 18 with falsely reporting an incident and giving a false statement, according to the Connecticut State Police.
Conrad reported to a court marshal and then the state police that her husband, Kyle Conrad, came up behind her following a court hearing on a temporary restraining order and yelled "I'm going to kill you bitch! I'm in control," according to a police report by Trooper Thomas Ehret.
Conrad said her husband then ran down the stairwell despite weighing more than 500 pounds, the report said.
When state police questioned Conrad she also claimed her husband broke her arm while they were living in Naugatuck, and that she had tried to report it to Stamford Police, but said they told her they couldn't help because it did not occur in their jurisdiction. She didn't return to Naugatuck to file a police report, the report said.
During the investigation by state police, a courthouse video showed that Conard’s husband did not approach her when leaving the courtroom and walked down the stairwell, according to the report.
A judicial marshal interviewed during the investigation confirmed he heard no threat and the husband did not run at any time, the report said.
Conrad provided state police with a sworn statement accusing her husband of making the death threat. The husband also denied making the remarks and said she had made such claims in the past.
Due to the inconsistencies, Conrad was arrested at her Stamford home and released on $20,000 bond.
